Amina S. Qazi, D.O., Joins St. Joseph Cardiology


Experienced Physician Now Welcoming New Patients

Amina S. Qazi - Cardiologist at St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor, MEBangor, ME – August 28, 2018 – St. Joseph Hospital, a member of Covenant Health, is pleased to announce the addition of cardiologist Amina Qazi, D.O., to its cardiology department, which will further expand access to compassionate, high-quality healthcare in Bangor and surrounding communities.

Dr. Qazi most recently served as a cardiologist and co-director of Turning Point Cardiac Rehabilitation and Prevention at Maine Medical Center. Prior to that, she was a cardiologist with Northeast Cardiology Associates in Bangor.

“Dr. Qazi is widely respected by fellow cardiologists and brings significant experience and research talent to our hospital,” said William Wood, MD, Vice President of Medical Affairs, St. Joseph Healthcare. “She is committed to serving the health needs of her patients and has worked to improve access to care in underserved areas, which is an integral part of St. Joseph Hospital’s mission.”

An academic star at an early age, by 16, Dr. Qazi graduated from high school in Portland and was attending college close to home at the University of Southern Maine (USM). After completing her graduate studies in Applied Immunology at USM, she attended the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford. She completed her internal medicine residency training at the University of Connecticut Internal Medicine and her cardiovascular disease fellowship at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Dr. Qazi is a member of the Maine Medical Association’s Board of Directors and its Public Health Committee. She is also a former governor of the Maine Chapter of the American College of Cardiology.
