St. Joseph Healthcare’s Dr. Ganesha Santhyadka Earns Daniel Hanley Center for Health Leadership’s Prestigious McAfee Fellowship

Bangor, ME – March 5, 2018 – St. Joseph Healthcare, a Covenant Health member, is proud to announce Ganesha Santhyadka, MD, FCCP and Medical Director of Pulmonology, was recently recognized by the Daniel Hanley Center for Health Leadership as a McAfee Fellow, at the conclusion of its Physician Executive Leadership Institute (PELI) Advanced Course.

Dr. Santhyadka is a pulmonologist and sleep specialist. He completed his Fellowship Training at Montefiore Medical Center of Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City and his Residency Training at Pennsylvania Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. He has practiced at St. Joseph Hospital since 2006.
“The Center’s values are based on the legacy of Dr. Daniel Hanley, who was one of Maine's most effective physician leaders. We focus on encouraging a culture of greater collaboration in local healthcare delivery systems and communities,” said Judiann Smith, Esq. and Executive Director, Daniel Hanley Center for Health Leadership. “More specifically, we work to improve the experience, outcomes and efficiency of Maine’s health system through strong leadership and strategically convening diverse groups of leaders to collaboratively solve complex problems.”

“Dr. Santhyadka epitomizes the kind of clinical leader we embrace in our community hospitals,” said William Wood, MD, Chief Medical Officer, St. Joseph Hospital. “We’re especially proud of his proactive approach and his true commitment to improving collaboration within our health system. This two-pronged approach ensures we’re consistently delivering the very best care to our patients in absolutely every area.”

The PELI Development Program consists of Foundational and Advanced level programs; both require a 1 year commitment. When the program launched the goal was to inspire at least 400 Maine physicians, which is 10% of the state’s practicing physicians, to complete substantive leadership development programs, which has been achieved. Today, the focus remains on growing this unique network of physician leaders.
