Surgery Center

Our Surgery Center was the first hospital-based day surgery facility in Maine. It features a caring staff, including its own dedicated anesthesia team, in the modern surroundings of our surgical center, which has six spacious Operating Rooms and an Endoscopy Suite. Nearly every type of surgery is performed at St. Joseph Hospital, as well as a wide range of Gastroenterological procedures such as colonoscopies. Many surgical procedures do not require an overnight stay in the hospital, but if you need to stay overnight following surgery, a specially trained team will take care of you in our Surgical Unit.

While you are in surgery in our Surgery Center, you will be under the care of a board-certified physician-anesthesiologist from Spectrum Medical Group.

If you are anticipating joint replacement surgery at St. Joseph Hospital, our Surgery Center offers a free two-hour class to help you prepare for your procedure.
