 Dennis Shubert, MD, PhD of Seal Harbor, Maine has been named Vice-President of Medical Affairs by St. Joseph Healthcare. As a member of the senior leadership team, Dr. Shubert will provide physician leadership in all aspects of program development and decision making for the Organization.
Dr. Shubert practiced neurosurgery from 1983 until 2003. During his 20-year career as a neurosurgeon, he served as Section Head of Neurosurgery and Chief of Surgical Service at Eastern Maine Medical Center, Bangor, Maine.
After discontinuing his neurosurgery practice, Dr. Shubert was appointed as the very first director of the Maine Quality Forum, a Maine government agency which collects and publishes comparative quality data and promotes research, best practices and healthy lifestyles. Dr. Shubert has also served as a steering committee member and a technical advisory panel Chair for the National Quality Forum, a nonprofit organization that aims to improve the quality of healthcare for all Americans through healthcare performance improvement.

Dr. Shubert earned his MD at George Washington University. He also holds a Masters Degree in Health Care Management from the Harvard School of Public Health, and a PhD in Neurophysiology/Neurosurgery from the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Shubert is a Past President of the Penobscot County Medical Society and the Maine Neurosurgical Society, and a past member of the Board of Directors of Merrill Merchants Bank in Bangor.
